MY DAUGHTER READS - THE RISING READS PROGRAM
The Rising Readers program prevents summer reading and learning loss for approximately 300-400 rising first through third-grade students in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) who have been identified as Limited English Proficient (LEP). International House, in partnership with CMS, implements this program each summer.
This was one of those stories that took shape during production. We did go in with a plan and some vision, but at the end of the day, we let the elements of the story take the wheel. It's not often you get a client that allows you to do this. It's trust, and the team at International House Charlotte gave us just that. We extended our original 3-day shoot to 4, and because of that, we were able to run with a hairbrained idea and shape this piece into what it is. Thank you to the crew for being down to work in this unorthodox way. I like to think it paid off.
